Hemodialysis service was available at the Elbasan Regional Hospital, but with limited capacity, where patients performed the sessions in four tours until midnight, out of standards, where as a lack of investment in equipment were infected with viral hepatitis by dozens of patients. About 20 patients received this service in Durres or Tirana.
The hemodialysis pavilion was placed after the rehabilitation of an abandoned floor of the pediatric building at the Elbasan Regional Hospital. The first service was given on March 27, 2017.
Currently, 111 patients from Elbasan, Librazhd, Cërriku, Gramshi, Peqin, Prrenjas are on dialysis service in 29 devices / beds. At this center there is a medical and assistants staff of 26 people.
